Consulting Room Games

Ever hear a doctor say, "I'm okay, but you are going to need years of painful therapy." To get paid the big bucks without having to be the boss, (much less the proprietor) become a consultant, A Doctor, a Financial Consultant, a Lawyer, a Professional Witness, Etc. My web designer yesterday told me, "You spend more energy turning away business than it would take to just let people pay you." She's right, it's true, I hate money. I'm doomed to succeed. Four prerequisites to consulting.

Expertise (Pretense of Authority? [Saturation] {Once a Con, always a Con.})

Data Folding Manipulation (Checklists, Dialectics / Taxonomy)

                   Memorability (Clarity & Charisma / {Making an Impression})

And Closure (Beginning, a Middle and of course a Clear Ending. Same time next week?)

Our will to learn is the most precious resource we have for making changes. But how much information does an authority have to offer, and how much will our information cost? We've gone from a will to learn, to the actual cost of an authoritative expertise. Ironically, consultants don't always confront the same "Moral Hazards" that prevents the rest of us from taking excessive payment. At the "Top," people get paid for the appearance of authority, for advise that could be better derived from a cab driver or maybe even your maid. Only difference, your maid isn't interested in telling you what to do. (Probably he doesn't get paid enough anyways.)

Class struggles and stratification aside, we don't want to be getting open heart surgery from a cab driver. But still, in many areas of "Expertise," authority is bogus. Here in the States we have "For Profit Colleges" that are total ripoffs. Massive student loan debts are acquired for career tracks that are dead ends, without even providing valid credentials. And student loans are our only kinds of debt that can't be written off or deferred by bankruptcy. Often times the only curriculum offered at these institutions is a crash course in "Corporate Evil."

Now one might think that as a retired Professional Psychic, I might be a bit less hostile, but I believe Consulting Room Games are the cause of most of our modern societies failings. False authority is the very definition of evil. People are now turning to You Tube for the answers to their most intimately personalized conformational biases. Public informational resources have largely become a cocoon of ignorance and death. If we don't want to know something, we don't have to. If we want tripe, we get tripe. Information is no longer about being informed. If we want valuable information, we are expected to pay for it. In a GOOGLEPLECTIC society, "If it isn't a click away, then who cares?" In google's defense, we just had a global, "Mobilegeddon" where if we don't make your website "Mobile Ready," your Google page rank drops off to the bottom of all of the listings, providing no click impressions whatsoever. They had been keeping every single stupid website, blog and social media page on ready access, as if any of us deserved to compete with the page ranks of paying businesses. (Can you imagine all that waste heat produced by short storing that much useless information and it's data undertow?) My work looks like garbage on a smart phone anyways. It wasn't till I got a large screen monitor that I'd found out my Math Graphics look great in the first place. (I had no idea why I had so many page views.) I myself am defying the S.E.O.'s, by ignoring page ranking entirely. All of my readers come from personal referrals only.

Long story short, if you need to pay for expertise, shop around first. Know your information as well as you can, ask questions, and don't settle for condescending sales scams. Consulting room games don't have to become a losing proposition. And if and when possible, try to have a little fun.
